India and Canada Forge Strategic Partnership in Science, Technology, and Healthcare

New Delhi, India – In a landmark meeting, India and Canada have embarked on a journey of collaboration and joint ventures in cutting-edge fields such as electric vehicles, cyber-physical systems, quantum technologies, green hydrogen fuel, and deep ocean mining. The high-level Canadian delegation, led by Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan province, engaged in discussions with India’s Science & Technology Minister Jitendra Singh, exploring partnerships in clean technologies, bioeconomy, bio-based materials, food & agriculture technologies, and affordable healthcare, including pharmaceuticals and biomedical instrumentation.

Minister Singh highlighted the significance of the ‘Global Biofuels Alliance’ (GBA), an initiative spearheaded by India during its tenure as the G20 Chair. The GBA aims to unite the world’s largest consumers and producers of biofuels to accelerate the development and deployment of sustainable biofuels.

Welcoming the Canadian delegation, Minister Singh emphasized the crucial role of the 2.3 million-strong Indian community in reinforcing Indo-Canadian relations and contributing to the development of both nations.

Premier Moe expressed his enthusiasm for the growing relationship between India and Saskatchewan, particularly since the opening of their office in Delhi. He underscored the importance of academia, research institutions, and industries in both countries, which are serving as catalysts in fostering strategic research and development partnerships.

The meeting marks a significant step forward in the bilateral relationship between India and Canada, with a focus on leveraging each other’s strengths in science, technology, and healthcare to achieve collective growth and address global challenges.
