In a strategic move to seize burgeoning opportunities in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, leading Indian information technology firms, Tech Mahindra and Wipro, are set to intensify their foray into generative AI technology in 2024. Having already integrated generative AI internally and into client offerings last year, executives from both companies express confidence in the positive outlook for genAI-based services adoption worldwide.
According to Subha Tatavarti, CTO of Wipro Limited, the focus lies on enhancing productivity through the leveraging of AI’s learning capabilities, particularly in areas such as call center support and software generation. Tatavarti predicts that AI services, including model training and data preparation, will gain momentum over the next five years, playing a crucial role in helping enterprises unlock the full potential of AI.
Tatavarti emphasizes that the long-term impact of AI will be disruptive across all industries, transforming every business into an AI-centric entity with specialized vertical focuses. She envisions generative AI playing a pivotal role in precision medicine, precision agriculture, and hyper-personalized marketing, with conversational abilities facilitating advancements in smart buildings and smart homes.
Kunal Purohit, Chief Digital Services Officer at Tech Mahindra, echoes this sentiment, stating that generative AI took center stage as a mainstream trend in 2023, and in 2024, its true potential and value will be fully realized. Purohit predicts that generative AI will be a common thread weaving through various other technology trends.
As the race for AI dominance intensifies, Indian IT giants are positioning themselves at the forefront of this technological revolution, anticipating a transformative impact on industries and businesses globally in the years to come.
