In the face of a recent surge in COVID-19 cases, Kerala reported 292 fresh infections and three deaths in the last 24 hours, as per data released by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday. The nationwide tally stood at 341 cases, with Kerala contributing a significant portion, taking the state’s active cases to 2,041, according to the Ministry website.
Since the onset of the pandemic three years ago, Kerala has witnessed a total of 72,056 COVID-related deaths. The state, however, has also seen continuous efforts in curbing the spread, with 224 individuals cured, discharged, or migrated in the last 24 hours. This brings the overall count of recoveries to 68,37,203 cases.
Health Minister Veena George sought to allay concerns, emphasizing the state’s readiness to combat the virus. Despite the increase in cases, she assured the public that special facilities for COVID patients have been arranged. Hospitals have been directed to ensure the availability of isolation wards, rooms, oxygen beds, ICU beds, and ventilators.
With the state actively addressing the challenges posed by the recent surge, the government remains optimistic about its ability to manage the situation effectively. The continuous focus on healthcare infrastructure and the commitment to providing top-notch facilities signal Kerala’s dedication to battling the pandemic head-on.
As the situation unfolds, the people of Kerala are urged to remain vigilant, adhere to safety protocols, and cooperate with health authorities to collectively overcome the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic.
