New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to file his nomination for a third consecutive term from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat today, with an impressive gathering of twelve Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states expected to be in attendance. The event is poised to be a grand affair, with several Union Ministers, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Presidents of various NDA allies also likely to grace the occasion.
Among the Chief Ministers expected to be present at the nomination are Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, Nitish Kumar of Bihar, Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand, Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh, Vishnu Deo Sai of Chhattisgarh, and Eknath Shinde of Maharashtra. Additionally, Bhajan Lal Sharma of Rajasthan, Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam, Nayab Singh Saini of Haryana, Pramod Sawant of Goa, Prem Singh Tamang of Sikkim, and Manik Saha of Tripura are also expected to attend.
Key leaders from other political parties are also slated to be present, including Rashtriya Lok Dal Chief Jayant Chaudhary, Lok Janshakti Party Chief Chirag Paswan, Apna Dal (S) President Anupriya Patel, and Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party President Om Prakash Rajbhar.
Before filing his nomination papers, PM Modi will first pay his respects to Maa Ganga at the Dashashwamedh Ghat and is expected to take a bath in the holy river. He will then visit the Namo Ghat before proceeding to the Baba Kaal Bhairav temple to offer prayers. The Prime Minister will conclude his pre-nomination rituals at the collectorate, where he will officially file his nomination.
Following the nomination, PM Modi is scheduled to meet with party workers at the convention centre, making this a significant event in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.
